I wish i was not born as Daughter

     I Wish I Was Not Born As A Daughter  

After long time writing blog.This poem urges me to write something.Because it depicts the condition of of an Indian Bride.Few months ago I have faced same kind of situation. So each and every word of this poem touch upon my heart.i can relate my self in this poem.

I wish I was not born as a daughter

The title of the poem itself suggest that daughter is not happy because she is a daughter.There is a saying that

 ‘Every girl is a princess for her parents’

         Her family tries to give all the happiness to her.Every one treats her like a little princess than why she has a regret of being a daughter?

The answer of this question lies in the age long tradition of Indian society.

                                  “Bidai”

Whenever we heard the word ‘Bidai’ we imagine the image of crying women

Glittering shining from head to toe

I just took the wedding vows

Surrounded by faces all new

 My eyes wandered looking for you

Wanted you to hold me tight

But her mother is not there.

               Bride looks so beautiful in wedding outfit and ornaments.But from insight she is not happy because she has to leave her beautiful home.she herself doesn't know what is  going on with her.After leaving her family she belongs to other family.All the family member are dancing and welcoming new bride.but what about her.Everything is new for her.In between that new environment.she has to follow some tradition.she is not happy because she had leaved her world.

         Now a days after the engagement bride and the groom spends time with each other. Try to understand each other. But during the old time they doesn't see each other and spends entire life with each other. just imagine, if someone gives you a big house and money.Every thing is there but not your family.you don’t like to live there.But a daughter has to do this………why all because of it is a “so called tradition”.

‘Bidai Bidai Rit yeh kesi he’………..

        In the new environment daughter’s eyes are looking for her mother.Because she is her friend,philosopher and guide for.Her mother is not with her during the hardest period of her life.she has to face everything alone.

        ‘Few moments ago,I belonged to you Now I have a family,completely New’

   Few moments ago she is the part of her family now she belongs to another family.

‘You hugged me and wiped my tears
you never looked so weak all this years’

Condition of Mother is also very difficult during ‘Bidai’.Because she had raised her.She gave her gift to groom’s family.it is the hardest period of mother also.

 I wanted to say let’s go home

But soon I realised I have A new home
I wished I could never leave you today

But tradition is above us they say

She wants go home and live like a princess.But she could not do so because she realised she is now a part of that new environment.If she does not wish to leave her home because she is surrounded by the boundaries of tradition.

I wished so much thisday could have come little late,

 But then how can I fight my fate
 you never made me feel this,mother   

Every thing is predestined.so we can not do  anything.
